I love guiding families on their breastfeeding/feeding journey. Breastfeeding is not the same for everyone, and it is my goal to help people feel empowered on their individual path to success.

MY PHILOSOPHY

Breastfeeding is not a black and white process. There are many gray areas, and when you don’t know what to look for, or have the right tools and support, it could quickly become frustrating and feel hopeless. I believe in listening to your specific needs and finding a solution that works best for you and your baby. After our initial meeting, I will check in with you to assess your progress, and be available to answer any questions. I will also work with your pediatrician to make sure your baby thrives.

I recognize that despite our best efforts, breastfeeding may not work for everyone, and that is okay. This is not a judgment on motherhood or your baby’s ability to grow up happy and healthy. I simply believe that if you are equipped with the knowledge and support I can provide, you will feel confident that you did your best for you and your baby.

I love everything about babies and am passionate about breastfeeding. I am a very good listener and have a strong desire to help others. I personally understand what you are going through, since breastfeeding was a bumpy journey for me, too.

INITIAL APPOINTMENTS

At our first meeting, I will do a full analysis intake. This includes discussing your pregnancy through delivery, which will help me determine if there are any underlying issues. I will then observe your baby nursing. I will assess your baby’s latch and how well your baby is transferring milk. I will teach you various ways of holding your baby, different nursing techniques, and heighten your awareness of the subtle cues your baby may give, indicating a readiness to nurse. I will also do an oral exam on the baby to see how baby can actually suck and to see if there are any oral restrictions.

Aliza is amazing! We had a number of issues breastfeeding and Aliza made it her mission to help us problem solve and make breastfeeding as successful as possible for my son and I. Aliza helped us through every step of our journey - checking in with encouraging text messages for support - and helped me get to a place where breastfeeding was no longer painful but was enjoyable. I would highly recommend working with Aliza!
